Cross-border cooperation Clean Mobility between Bratislava and Vienna
The regions on both sides of the border continue to grow, necessitating the need to offer attractive mobility to their inhabitants. The gradual improvement and outreach of services is intended to help residents in the border area to make the transition to public transport or cycling more easily.
The transport operators Slovak BID (Bratislavská integrovaná doprava) and Austrian VOR (Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region) are part of the Clean Mobility project of the Interreg V-A Slovakia-Austria cross-border cooperation programme, which makes it possible to make the population aware of all the possibilities of clean mobility in the regions on both sides of the border. This very important cooperation between the partners will continue to be improved and invested in even after the end of this project.
As the largest transport association in Austria, VOR brings together all public transport in Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland. VOR is responsible for planning, coordinating and optimising public transport in the three Länder for around one billion passengers per year.
In the town of Hainburg and the municipality of Wolftshal, where passengers can be transported within the framework of the integrated system of the IDS BK, the Austrian integrated system of VOR can also be used. However, different fare conditions apply for the VOR system and cannot yet be combined with the IDS BK.
In both integrated systems, mobile apps are also available for convenient travel. For example, with the Austrian VOR AnachB app, which is also available in Slovak, you can comfortably take the S7 train line from the centre of Vienna, via Vienna Airport to the border town of Hainburg on a single ticket. From there, the 901 bus to Bratislava is available, where you can use the Slovak IDS BK app, which is also available in German for Austrian passengers, to travel with one ticket, for example, to Bratislava airport.
