General information
What is meant by "Verbundlinien" (interconnected lines)?
The term "Verbundlinien" refers to all scheduled services in the Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region (VOR). With a few exceptions, this means all public transportation in Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland.
What are the exceptions, which lines are not included?
The following public transportation services in the region are not part of the VOR and do not accept Youth Tickets or Top Youth Tickets:
- Airport buses
- CAT BUSES
- Buses that are ordered separately (e.g. transportation for boarding school students from A to B)
- Tourist offers (e.g. Wachaubahn, Schneebergbahn etc.)
Where is the exact border between Lower Austria (Niederösterreich) or Burgenland and Upper Austria (Oberösterreich) or Styria (Steiermark)?
The Jugendticket (youth ticket) and Top-Jugendticket are valid exclusively in Vienna, Lower Austria (Niederösterreich), and Burgenland. For cross-network journeys beyond the borders of these federal states, an additional ticket must be purchased starting from the last scheduled stop within the respective area.
VOR Annual pass/KlimaTicket
Where is a VOR KlimaTicket valid for train journeys out "of the VOR area of validity" or "into the VOR area"?
The last scheduled stop of the train used in the area of validity is always decisive.
- For example, when traveling from Vienna to Linz with the VOR KimaTicket MetropolRegion, the route from Vienna to St. Pölten main station is covered if St. Pölten is the last stop in the VOR area. For local trains, the journey to the last stop before the Upper Austrian border, specifically St. Valentin, is included and if you use the WESTbahn, this is Amstetten. For the rest of the route, the railroad companies sell their tickets based on the timetable at the in-house tariff.
For journeys in the VOR area, the reverse applies:
- the first scheduled stop in the VOR is decisive here.
The fare conditions for the VOR KlimaTicket Region, for example, state:
- "Valid in the VOR network area including the extension area according to Annex 3 except for the Vienna core zone in all means of transport of the VOR" and
- "For journeys beyond the area of validity, an additional ticket must be purchased from the last scheduled stop in the area of validity."
The VOR KlimaTicket Metropolregion includes the Vienna core zone.
Is the KlimaTicket Austria also valid in Vienna?
Yes! All information about the KlimaTicket and purchase options can be found here: www.klimaticket.at.
If I have a KlimaTicket, do I still have to buy a ticket for Vienna?
Following the positive conclusion of negotiations, the KlimaTicket Österreich is also valid in the eastern region and thus also in Vienna since 26.10.2021. All information about the KlimaTicket and purchase options can be found here: www.klimaticket.at.
I have a VOR annual travelcard and would like to switch to the KlimaTicket Austria. How can I do this?
In this case, you must first purchase the KlimaTicket Austria and then cancel the VOR annual travelcard. The cancellation fee that is normally due is waived on presentation of the invoice for the KlimaTicket Österreich if the period of purchase directly follows the VOR annual travelcard.
Will I get my money back if I cancel my annual pass?
If the VOR annual pass was paid for in advance, we will refund the remaining amount aliquot.
Can the annual passes also be uploaded to the VOR AnachB app?
Yes, the ticket can be uploaded and stored in the app.
What are the advantages of VOR annual passes?
The advantages of VOR annual season tickets (route annual season tickets and climate tickets are:

- NightLine included - With your VOR route annual ticket (incl. Vienna core zone) or & VOR KlimaTicket MetropolRegion, you can use all Vienna night bus lines and the 24-hour subway at the weekend at no extra charge.
Is the VOR Climate Ticket Region also valid on the S-Bahn in Vienna?
No, the "VOR KlimateTicket Region" is only valid in Burgenland and Lower Austria up to the core zone border.
- If you use public transport within Vienna - subway, streetcar, bus, ÖBB and Badner Bahn lines - the "VOR KlimateTicket Metropolregion" is required.

- Select 'Store annual card.'
- Enter the data printed on the annual card to be stored.
If the information matches successfully, your annual card will be stored in 'Tickets'.
How can the photo on the annual card be replaced?
Personally at the VOR Service Center at Westbahnhof - with a colored passport photo
By email: jahreskarte[@]vor.at
The photo must meet the following standards for submission: Height: 295 pixels, Width: 260 pixels, Color depth: 96dpi, Format: PNG or JPG.
What should I do if my name has changed?
Submit the document by email to jahreskarte[@]vor.at.
The change will be processed and will be correctly displayed on the smartphone the next day. However, the replacement of the annual card will only take place at the next contract renewal.
Upon explicit request, an immediate exchange of the annual card with the current name can also be performed. In this case, the processing fee will be charged according to the applicable tariff regulations.
What if the validity area of my annual card changes?
In this case, a transition card will be issued for the remaining term upon returning the VOR Route Annual Card.
On the smartphone, the VOR Route Annual Card will be displayed until the last day of validity.
What if my annual pass contract is terminated prematurely?
In this case, a transition card will be issued for the remaining period after returning the annual pass.
The annual pass will be displayed on the smartphone until the last day of validity.
In the event of early termination, a processing fee will be charged according to the applicable tariff regulations.
Why can't I order VOR annual passes online?
VOR annual passes cannot be purchased online; however, they can be stored in the app after purchase.
VOR annual passes can be requested at VOR and Wiener Linien sales outlets using the VOR Annual Pass Order Form (GER: VOR Jahreskarten Bestellformular) or the VOR Climate Ticket Order Form (GER: Bestellformular VOR KlimaTicket).
For more information, please refer to the overview page for VOR annual passes (GER: VOR Jahreskarten).
Are VOR annual passes transferable or only personal?
Annual passes are only available on a personal basis to keep the offering clear. The advantage is that personal route annual passes and Climate Tickets, which can be relatively expensive, especially for longer routes, can be replaced in case of loss. This is not possible with transferable tickets.
Termination of VOR Annual Passes
VOR annual passes can be terminated at any time in writing and without stating reasons, observing the notice periods, and effective at the end of any given month. For premature termination within the contract period, a processing fee is charged. To terminate, you can submit your card at the VOR ServiceCenter or send it by registered mail to the following address:
Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region (VOR) GmbH
Europaplatz 3/3
1150 Vienna
Please include a brief termination letter with your signature when sending by mail. The card must reach VOR within the first three working days of the month from which the annual pass is no longer needed to complete the termination. Any monthly debits will only be stopped from that point, so there may be some overlap with the collection. Any credits will be refunded at the end of the month.
If you have prepaid your VOR annual pass (cash or bank transfer), the remaining credit will be refunded to an account provided by you.
Why can't I store my annual pass in the app?
This can have three reasons:
- You are not logged in.
- You do not have a customer account.
- You are trying to store the card number instead of the customer number in the app.
If you continue to have problems storing the annual pass, feel free to contact kundenservice@vor.at.
VOR AnachB App
For which operating systems is the VOR AnachB App available?
The VOR AnachB App is available for Android and Apple iOS. Please note that (older) operating system versions may not be fully supported.
- Android: from 5.5
- iOS: from 9.0.
Where can I download the VOR AnachB App?
You can find the VOR AnachB App on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. We appreciate your understanding that we cannot offer the VOR AnachB App for download outside of the mentioned stores.
What languages does the VOR AnachB App support?
Currently, the VOR AnachB App is available in German and English. According to the recommendations of the operating systems, the displayed language depends on the language settings of your smartphone. If a language other than German is selected in the system settings, the VOR AnachB App will use English.
How does the VOR AnachB Route Planner work?
VOR and ITS Vienna Region (ITS) operate the nationwide and multimodal VOR AnachB Route Planner based on the Verkehrsauskunft Österreich (VAO). With the new online route planner, routes for public transportation, cycling, walking, or driving can be calculated and combined – and that for the entire Austria! The new system is user-friendly and extremely clear thanks to the embedded map view.
Under "Fahrt" (journey), you first enter all the data important for your route: at Start (A) and Ziel (B), you can enter a locality and/or stop, address, or an important point. The more precise your information, the clearer the suggestion list for your selection.
Under "Einstellungen" (settings), you also have the option to customize the route information to your personal needs, e.g., change your walking speed, exclude individual modes of transportation, or use only low-floor vehicles. Please note that these options may extend your overall travel time. Clicking the "Route" button will start the query.
Now, under "Ergebnis" (result), you automatically receive an overview of the found connections with public transportation. The essential data is repeated, departure and arrival times, duration of the journey, the number of transfers, and the fare at the VOR tariff are indicated. If you want to query additional modes of transportation such as a car or bicycle, simply expand the desired modes.
In the detailed view, you get full information about the desired journey in all individual steps. In the first line, you find the mode of transportation with the line number, destination, and any additional information. Clicking on the "+" shows you all the additional stops. "Weitere Fahrten" (additional trips) lists the following departure times for the respective line.
A final note: Say goodbye to old habits if the VOR AnachB Route Planner suggests seemingly unusual routes – it searches for all possible connections. Trips can be equally attractive in terms of time, even if they lead through different paths or involve multiple transfers.
Entering via Map: Thanks to the embedded map, start and destination are automatically displayed on the map when entering via the "Fahrt" tab.
The selection of the start or destination point can also be made by simply dragging the blue markers A and B into the map with the left mouse button. By pressing the right mouse button at the desired location on the map and selecting "Als Start/Ziel übernehmen" (take as start/destination), any point can also be taken over. You can change the zoom factor of the map either with the scroll wheel of your mouse or with the scale slider +/- at the bottom right of the map.
Why does the app require so many permissions during installation?
The VOR AnachB App offers several convenience features that, depending on the operating system, require certain permissions during installation or the initial launch. For example, accessing your location allows calculating connections from your current position or searching for nearby stops. Access to contacts enables easy purchase of tickets for fellow travelers. You select a contact from your address book, and the contact details are automatically copied into the corresponding form fields, saving you typing effort.
Some platforms group certain permissions into categories. For example, Android may request access to "Photos, Media, and Files" to cache already downloaded map sections on your smartphone or use storage cards. It is explicitly stated that no transmission or evaluation of your personal data occurs. User statistics are only created anonymously if you explicitly consent to the collection of user statistics in the "Settings."
For privacy concerns, we refer to the privacy policy for the VOR AnachB App.
Do I have to activate the location function to use the VOR AnachB App?
Certainly not, you can use the VOR AnachB App even with the location function turned off. In this case, certain features will not be available. For example, you won't be able to calculate connections based on your current position or search for nearby stops.
Why am I not seeing all possible connections?
The VOR AnachB App, in simplified terms, always calculates the fastest connection. For example, if the fastest way with public transportation involves multiple transfers, an alternative connection with fewer transfers (but longer total travel time) is usually suggested. Numerous other parameters also come into play in the background.
You can customize the connection search to your needs through the "Settings" menu. Once you've made individual settings, you will be reminded of them in the connection overview.
How can I influence the results of the route information?
To do this, click on the "Settings" menu. There, you will find various options to customize the connection to your needs. For example, you can specifically search for connections with short walking distances or connections with walking paths without stairs.
Your changed settings will be automatically saved and displayed in the departure monitor and journey information.
Why doesn't the VOR AnachB App always immediately suggest the desired addresses and stops in the search?
The search takes into account various parameters, including possible typos, and is generally designed to display the "most likely hit" with the input of fewer letters. Abbreviations are also considered. While this usually works well with the input of fewer letters, in rare cases, it may still be necessary to spell out stops or addresses. Using the favorites function can further simplify this process.
How can I create favorites?
In the VOR AnachB App, you can create favorites for different areas. The process is always the same: click on the star icon in the history or line list to mark a location or connection as a favorite and keep it in view. Unused favorites can be deleted with a swipe gesture from right to left.
How do I get help with questions about the VOR AnachB App?
Feel free to contact the VOR customer service with any questions, issues, or suggestions for improvement regarding the VOR AnachB App. We strive to continuously improve our VOR AnachB App, address any problems, and implement meaningful features. Your feedback is essential to us.
When reporting issues or errors, please include your operating system (with version number), the installed version of the VOR AnachB App (you can find the version number at the bottom of the "Settings" menu), and a detailed description of the issue (including screenshots if possible). Thank you.
What can and should I do in case of errors or crashes in the VOR AnachB App?
Often, simply closing the app and reopening it can resolve the issue. In some cases, uninstalling and then reinstalling the VOR AnachB App may also help. If you observe errors or crashes, please report the problem to the VOR customer service. Your feedback helps us continuously improve the VOR AnachB App and address any issues.
Please don't forget to include your operating system (with version number), the installed version of the VOR AnachB App (you can find the version number at the bottom of the "Settings" menu), and a detailed description of the issue (including screenshots if possible). Thank you.
Why can't I log in?
This can have three reasons:
- Incorrect password was entered.
- Incorrect user data was entered.
- Error during registration.
Where can I see my purchased tickets in the app?
Open the navigation and select "Tickets." Here you will find the current tickets, the stock (8-day climate card), and the history.
How do I change the payment method in the app?
The payment method can be changed by you during each payment process.
Is it possible to save a fixed payment method?
All selected payment methods can be saved and prioritized.
Ersetzt die Hinterlegung des Personalausweises, Führerscheins oder Reisepasses in der App die Mitnahme eines amtlichen Lichtbilddokuments bei einer Kontrolle durch den VOR oder Partner?
Unfortunately, this is not possible. You must carry a photo ID with you on every journey.
Why are there discrepancies between the departure times displayed in the VOR AnachB app and the actual departure times?
The VOR AnachB App provides information about the planned timetable. If we are aware of timetable changes, these are taken into account in the VOR AnachB App several days to weeks in advance, depending on the timetable change. As soon as we become aware of any rail or S-Bahn disruptions, we display them as a text message in the app. We ask for your understanding that it is not possible to include all timetable deviations and disruptions that occur at short notice due to the current operating situation in the journey planner.
Mobile/Online tickets
How do I purchase a mobile ticket?
You need a smartphone with internet access and the free VOR AnachB app. A one-time registration is required, which can also be done before the first purchase. In the app, you can either select the desired ticket directly from the list or enter the start and destination in the app's route planner to receive a price recommendation. If you continue, you will be directed to the mobile ticket shop, where you can easily choose your desired ticket and add it to the shopping cart. Additional tickets can also be purchased. The ticket will be displayed directly in the app under 'Tickets' or 'Inventory,' and the purchase amount will be debited.
What tickets can be purchased as a mobile ticket?
You can directly purchase the following tickets in the VOR AnachB app:
- Single tickets
- Day passes
- Weekly passes
- Monthly passes
- 8-Tage-Klimakarte Vienna
- Tickets for Vienna core zone
- Regional offers
- Jugendtickets
The VOR annual pass can also be uploaded in the VOR AnachB app!"
How can I use mobile ticketing?
Register online on the VOR ticket shop at ticketshop.vor.at or directly through your smartphone using the AnachB app under the 'Tickets' menu. Keep your password and username safe for future transactions.
The VOR AnachB app is available for free on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
Can I buy a mobile ticket for someone else?
Yes, it is possible for accompanying persons. When purchasing the ticket, the relevant person must be specified with their name and date of birth. In the event of an inspection, the purchaser must be present during the journey and show the ticket. Both the purchaser and accompanying persons must carry an official photo ID for ticket inspection.
How is the mobile ticket checked?
During an inspection, the mobile ticket in the app and an official photo ID (e.g., ID card, passport) must be presented. The barcode on the ticket is scanned and automatically verified with a control device. Presenting the mobile ticket as a screenshot or in a wallet app is not possible. If the ticket or photo ID cannot be presented, an increased fare must be paid.

If the ticket or photo ID cannot be presented, an increased fare must be paid.
What happens if I cannot present my mobile ticket due to technical problems (e.g., dead battery)?
According to the tariff regulations, you must be able to present a ticket when entering the vehicle or the ticket-required area (behind the barrier). Therefore, an increased fare is due if a mobile ticket cannot be verified. If you can later demonstrate that you had a valid mobile ticket at the beginning of the journey, the increased fare will be reduced.
Do I need mobile reception to access my mobile ticket, for example, during a ticket check?
No, the ticket is stored in the VOR AnachB App in your account under 'My Tickets' and can be accessed anytime without mobile reception. A mobile connection is only required during login and purchase of the mobile ticket.
Why do I need to carry an official photo ID?
All mobile tickets are personalized and are valid only in conjunction with an official photo ID. During a check, the mobile ticket in the app and an official photo ID (e.g., ID card, passport) must be presented. The barcode on the ticket is scanned and automatically checked with a control device. Presenting the mobile ticket as a screenshot or in a wallet app is not possible. If the ticket or photo ID cannot be presented, an increased fare must be paid. If you cannot present a photo ID, a reduction of the increased fare can only be requested if you agree to a photographic identity check during the control.
How much does a mobile ticket cost?
The prices for mobile tickets are identical to the ticket prices when purchased through machines, sales outlets, or in VOR Regio buses.
What payment methods are available for mobile/online tickets?
Payment can be made via bank transfer (eps online transfer) or credit card for registered customers. For non-registered customers, the only option for a one-time purchase of an online or mobile ticket is to pay directly with a credit card.
What is the problem if the order process is canceled after entering the payment details?
The problem of the order process being aborted after entering payment details is typically caused by browser settings. Please adjust the security level in the settings or internet options and allow redirections. If you have any questions, you can contact kundenservice@vor.at.
Can I also show my online ticket on my smartphone or notebook?
No, that is not possible. The online ticket is only valid as a printed paper ticket. However, you can upload the tickets saved in your customer account as a mobile ticket in the AnachB app and show them at a ticket inspection.
- Tickets purchased via cell phone are automatically loaded onto your cell phone and cannot be refunded in part or in full.
- Online tickets purchased via the VOR ticket store are automatically loaded onto your smartphone as soon as you are logged into the app and can therefore also not be refunded in part or in full.
- This also applies to tickets whose validity has not yet begun.
How do I get a receipt for travel expense reimbursement or for submission to the tax office with an online ticket?
In the customer account of the ticket shop, the purchased mobile/online tickets are listed in an overview. If you access your customer account on the internet, you can print receipts for the purchased tickets.
Canceling Mobile or Online Tickets
Tickets purchased via mobile phone are automatically loaded onto your phone and cannot be partially or fully refunded.
Online tickets purchased through the VOR ticket shop are automatically loaded onto the smartphone as soon as the user is logged into the app, and therefore, they also cannot be partially or fully refunded.
This applies even to tickets whose validity has not yet begun.
Timetable services
Which information do I get from the bus stop notice?
If you only want to find out the timetable for a single line at a known stop, then the bus stop poster is just perfect for you.
First enter all the important data in the corresponding input mask:
city/municipality and the departure stop.
You will then be shown a selection screen with all the lines serving these stops and can select the timetables of the lines you would like to print out or view.
What information does the timetable give me?
The route timetables and timetable book pages are particularly helpful for regional bus routes, which may have several branches.
First enter the line or stop or important point or street in the corresponding input mask and start the search with the "Query" button.
What information does the personal timetable provide me?
You enter your starting point and destination for your frequently needed routes. In the second step, you further refine the input by specifying the desired weekdays and the timeframe for the outbound and return journeys – and you're done!
VOR Tariff
Do I have to pay extra for city transportation?
No, for corresponding routes, local services are automatically included (e.g., Vienna – Krems, local services in Krems are included).
Who gets a senior ticket?
Persons over the age of 65 on presentation of the ÖBB Vorteilscard Senior or the ÖBB Österreichcard Senior. A photo ID showing the date of birth is also valid as proof of entitlement on Wiener Linien transport. The discount amounts to 40% compared to the full price of the VOR fare.
Why is an ÖBB Vorteilscard Senior required as proof of eligibility in Lower Austria & Burgenland and not in Vienna?
With the transition to the new tariff system in 2026, the Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region (VOR) can now offer consistent senior discounts in the joint tariff for single tickets and day passes. These tickets are now discounted by around 40%. This provides seniors – as well as people with disabilities or the visually impaired – with the opportunity to use all public transportation, including transfers, throughout the entire VOR area (Vienna, Lower Austria, Burgenland) with ONE discounted ticket.
To ensure consistent access to discounted VOR senior tickets, the ÖBB Vorteilscard Senior or the ÖBB Österreichcard Senior has been defined as the discount ID.
The reason for this decision is to make the Vorteilscard Senior widely available across the entire network. Previously, transport operators – especially in the regional bus sector – issued their own IDs at different prices for each company, with no mutual recognition. This situation has been addressed with the current solution.
Issuing a single senior ticket exclusively for Vienna is not possible at the ticket machine, as it is not part of Vienna's ticket range. However, the consortium partners have agreed to offer the senior discount for Vienna in the majority of cases involving continuous processing.
Why are there no weekly or monthly tickets for senior citizens in the region?
Weekly or monthly tickets are already very heavily discounted compared to the single fare, unfortunately a further reduction is not possible for commercial reasons.
Who gets a ticket for the blind?
Blind and severely visually impaired persons with an Austrian Disability Pass, if a reduced earning capacity of at least 70% is noted or the note "The holder of the pass can make use of the fare reduction according to the Federal Disability Act" is attached.
An accompanying person and/or an assistance dog of the blind person is/are transported free of charge.
Who gets a ticket for the disabled?
Disabled persons receive one-way tickets and day tickets at a reduced fare with the Austrian Disability Pass if a reduced earning capacity of at least 70% is noted or the note "The holder of the pass can claim the fare reduction according to the Federal Disability Act" is attached.
An accompanying person is transported free of charge if the note "The holder of the pass requires an accompanying person" is entered in the disabled person's pass
An assistance dog is also transported free of charge if it is entered in the passenger's disability pass.
Who gets a ticket for severely disabled persons?
Severely war-disabled persons whose gainful employment is reduced by at least 70% or an accompanying person and/or an assistance dog are transported free of charge in the core zone and on local services. Proof of entitlement is the severely war-disabled person's pass.
Do I need a ticket only for the S-Bahn in Vienna?
Season tickets for Vienna cover regional transportation, including regional buses in Vienna. There is no difference for single tickets.
Why is there no personal network for single rides and day passes?
Different routes can be common at different times of the day. With single rides and day passes, all routes calculated by the route planner may be used. Detours are not allowed, so, for example, you are not allowed to travel from Baden via St. Pölten to Mödling.
How does it work for routes that cross the network boundary?
Certain routes are sold at the VOR rate, while for specific routes, the Upper Austrian or Styrian regional tariff applies. The details are provided in Attachment 2 of the tariff regulations.
Why are there no strip tickets available in the region anymore?
In the new, significantly larger tariff area without zones, there is no longer the option to validate a specific number of units according to a plan. In the former VVNB (Vienna-Neustadt Vienna Regional Association), there were no validators, and they are being gradually removed in the VOR region starting from 2017. However, there are numerous sales points available, including VOR ServiceCenters, the VOR Online Ticket Shop, online shops of ÖBB, Wiener Linien, or Wiener Lokalbahnen, the VOR AnachB app, ÖBB Ticket app, Wiener Linien app, bus drivers, sales counters, and vending machines operated by ÖBB, Wiener Linien, or Wiener Lokalbahnen.
Is the time indication on tickets with a later start date binding?
Tickets are valid from the date and time printed on the ticket for a single journey within 2 hours and the duration of the journey.
Jugendtickets (Youth tickets)
Are there youth tickets for students as well?
No, the youth tickets are the replacement for the previous free travel for school children and apprentices and therefore still not valid for students.
Can I travel with my EDU-Card as a student ID?
Yes, if the postal code of the place of residence and the postal code of the school location are visible on the ID.
How does an apprentice obtain the required apprentice or vocational school ID?
There are different regulations for apprentices in various federal states:
- Apprentices with an apprenticeship in Vienna: Vienna vocational schools issue vocational school IDs for their apprentices. If an apprentice in Vienna does not receive a vocational school ID, they can request an apprentice ID through the website of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce.
- Apprentices with an apprenticeship in Lower Austria: The apprentice ID is issued by the Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce for every apprentice with an active apprenticeship. The distribution of the apprentice ID is done through the employer.
- Apprentices with an apprenticeship in Burgenland: They receive an EDU.Card apprentice ID, issued by the Chamber of Labor Burgenland (Central office in Eisenstadt and district offices in Güssing, Jennersdorf, Neusiedl am See, Oberwart, and Oberpullendorf).
In order to use the youth ticket for € 19.60 to travel to the vocational school, apprentices also need a vocational school ID from the respective vocational school.
What do nursing students need?
The student ID card for nursing students is either issued by the nursing schools themselves or students can obtain a blank student ID card from a tobacconist, a paper retailer or the VOR ServiceCenter in BahnhofCity Wien West. The nursing school then confirms the completed ID card.
What do dental assistants need?
This concerns a group of apprentices who only receive a training contract and do not attend vocational school. Nevertheless, dental assistants can benefit from the youth ticket if the respective dentist applies for a discount card. This discount card must be applied for in writing by the dentist at the relevant Regional Dental Chamber:
Vienna Regional Dental Chamber for Vienna Kohlmarkt 11/6, 1010 Vienna Tel .: 050511 – 1000
Lower Austria Regional Dental Chamber for Lower Austria Kremser Gasse 20, 3100 St. Pölten Tel .: 050511 – 3100
Burgenland Regional Dental Chamber Burgenland Schlossplatz 1, 7431 Bad Tatzmannsdorf Tel .: 050511 – 7000
The transmitted discount card is then confirmed by the dentist and is valid in conjunction with the youth ticket or Top-Youth ticket as proof.
What about accompanying persons of students with disabilities?
Students with disabilities are often dependent on an accompanying person when using public transportation. There is a regulation for the use of public transport, which continues to apply in the usual form: Affected persons receive a corresponding form from the Vienna Social Fund or MA 56. A card is then issued exclusively by Wiener Linien for authorized accompanying persons. These cards are not available at the VOR.
Can occasional student transportation be used?
For pupils who have to travel part of the route on occasional services and part of the route on regular services to get to school, the companies operating occasional services for pupils recognize both the Youth Ticket and the Top Youth Ticket as proof of the € 19.60 prescribed for free travel.
If the journey to school is made exclusively on a connection operated as an occasional service for schoolchildren (not on a network line), the amount of € 19.60 must be paid directly to the company operating this occasional service for schoolchildren.
Is it possible to travel on city transport?
Yes, with the Top Youth Ticketyou can also use public transport on non-school days and during the vacations. With the Youth Ticket, travel is only possible on school days and between your main place of residence and your place of education.
Loss of validity of tickets
Tickets must not be altered or falsified, otherwise they will lose their validity.
This includes in particular
- Unnecessary labeling or marking of tickets
- Separation of parts of the ticket
- Lamination of tickets (security features cannot be checked)
- Tickets without or with illegible printing
- Under no circumstances is a copy of a ticket or the invoice for a purchased ticket valid as authorization to travel
- Required entries on tickets, such as names, do not constitute an alteration or falsification of a ticket.
Tickets with print that is no longer legible can be exchanged for a new ticket at the issuing company or at Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region GmbH.
Is it sufficient to show a photo of the Youth Ticket or Top Youth Ticket?
No. The original Youth Ticket or Top Youth Ticket must always be taken along and presented. A photo or a copy of the ticket or the invoice are not valid as a ticket.
Does the youth ticket for € 19.60 have to be used from the main residence?
Yes, with the Jugendticket (Youth Ticket) for € 19.60 you may only travel from your registered main place of residence to school (according to your student ID) or place of education.
What exactly does "valid on school days" mean?
The Youth Ticket for € 19.60 is valid from Monday - Friday at the 5-day schools that are common in the region. If the pupils attend 6-day schools where lessons are also held on Saturdays, this ticket is also valid on Saturdays. However, the youth ticket for € 19.60 is not valid on Sundays, public vacations or during school vacations.
Can students whose place of residence is in Hungary, Slovakia or the Czech Republic, for example, use the ticket?
Yes, if their school is located in Vienna, Lower Austria or Burgenland and they have a student ID from a school entitled to free travel, the Top Youth Ticket can be used on all public transport lines 365 days a year.
How does it work when the limits of the VOR are exceeded on the way to school?
For pupils whose school routes cross the eastern region (Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland), the following regulations apply:
- Pupil lives in Lower Austria and goes to school in Upper Austria?
In addition to the Upper Austria ticket, which does not indicate a place of residence or school, a student ID with a place of residence or school in Lower Austria or Burgenland is required so that the Upper Austria ticket is recognized as a youth ticket for € 19.60 for the section from the federal state border to the place of residence in Lower Austria or Burgenland.
If pupils would like a top youth ticket for Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland, they can purchase the top-up ticket for € 66.40. This can then be used in conjunction with the Upper Austria ticket. This is then valid in conjunction with the Upper Austria ticket as a Top Youth Ticket on all public transport lines in Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland.
- Student lives in Lower Austria or Burgenland and goes to school in Styria?
In addition to the Styria Ticket, which does not indicate a place of residence or school, a student ID with a place of residence or school in Lower Austria or Burgenland is required so that the Styria Ticket is recognized as a youth ticket for € 19.60 on school days for the part of the journey from the state border to the place of residence in Lower Austria or Burgenland.
If pupils would like a top youth ticket for Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland, they can buy the top-up ticket for € 66.40. This can then be used in conjunction with the Styria ticket. This is then valid in conjunction with the Styria Ticket as a Top Youth Ticket on all public transport lines in Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland.
- Boarding school students who are overstayers:
Boarding school students can travel to the border point in Lower Austria or Burgenland with the Top Youth Ticket. From the border, however, there is still no entitlement to free travel for pupils (€ 19.60) in Upper Austria or Styria.
In Styria, however, boarding school students can buy a Top Ticket if their place of residence, school or training is in Styria. Further information can be found on the website of the Styrian Transport Association: Steirischen Verkehrsverbund.
In Upper Austria, boarding school students can buy a "Youth Ticket Network" if their place of residence, school or training is in Upper Austria. Further information can be found on the website of the Upper Austrian Transport Association: Oberösterreichischen Verkehrsverbund.

Does the youth ticket also apply if the apprenticeship or vocational school is located in different places (Lower Austria, Burgenland)?
Yes, the youth ticket for €19.60 is valid from the place of residence to the school location and from the place of residence to the training location. What should be considered if an apprenticeship begins during the validity period of the ticket?
From the moment the person is no longer a student, they can continue to use the youth ticket or Top-Jugendticket within the validity area corresponding to the apprenticeship. The prerequisite is a valid apprentice or vocational school ID, indicating the place of residence and training location.
What regulations apply if there are two training locations?
In this case, the Top-Jugendticket should be chosen, which entitles you to travel on all public transportation lines in Vienna, Lower Austria, and Burgenland.
How does it work when the boundaries of the VOR are crossed on the way to school or the training location?
For apprentices whose school routes or routes to the training location extend beyond the East region (Vienna, Lower Austria, Burgenland), the following regulations apply:
- Apprentice lives in Lower Austria or Burgenland and works in Styria:
In addition to the Styria-Ticket, an apprentice ID showing the place of residence or training location in Lower Austria or Burgenland is needed to be recognized as a youth ticket for €19.60 on school days for the partial route from the state border to the residence in Lower Austria or Burgenland.
Apprentices with a training location in Styria can order a checkit.card for free. This card indicates the place of residence, and thus, it can be used instead of an apprentice ID.
If the apprentice wants a Top-Jugendticket for Vienna, Lower Austria, and Burgenland, they can purchase a corresponding supplementary ticket for €66.40 in addition to the Styria-Ticket. The apprentice needs to show both the Styria-Ticket, an apprentice ID, and the supplementary ticket as proof during an inspection.
- Apprentice lives in Styria and works in Lower Austria or Burgenland:
In addition to the Styria-Ticket (apprentice ticket), an apprentice ID from Lower Austria or Burgenland, available from the Chamber of Commerce Lower Austria or Chamber of Labor Burgenland, is required, showing the training location in Lower Austria or Burgenland, to use the Styria-Ticket analogous to the youth ticket on the Lower Austrian or Burgenland route.
Apprentices with an apprenticeship in Burgenland receive an edu.card apprentice ID issued by the Chamber of Labor Burgenland.
- Apprentice lives in Upper Austria and works in Lower Austria or vice versa:
In addition to the Upper Austria-Ticket, which does not show a place of residence or training location, an apprentice ID from Lower Austria, available from the Chamber of Commerce Lower Austria, is needed, indicating the training location in Lower Austria, to use the Upper Austria-Ticket analogously to the youth ticket for €19.60 on the route in Lower Austria.
If the apprentice wants to buy the Top-Jugendticket (for Vienna, Lower Austria, Burgenland), they need the supplementary ticket for €66.40 in addition to the Upper Austria-Ticket.
What should be considered if the apprenticeship changes – for example, from Vienna to Lower Austria – and the apprentice only has the youth ticket for €19.60?
This change is reported to the respective responsible Chamber of Commerce. The apprentice can contact the Chamber of Commerce Lower Austria to obtain an apprentice ID. In Burgenland, the Chamber of Labor is responsible for issuing the apprentice ID.
Alternatively, the apprentice can purchase a Top-Jugendticket and use it to travel on all public transportation lines in Vienna, Lower Austria, and Burgenland – including Sundays and holidays.
How can the Jugendticket be converted into a TOP-Jugendticket?
Anyone who has already purchased a Youth Ticket for €19.60 can upgrade to the Top-Youth Ticket at any time by paying the price difference of €66.40.

Technical questions
If the automatic redirection does not work:
After clicking on 'Fahrplan' or a submenu below, only a page with the text 'Bitte um einen Augenblick Geduld - sie werden sofort weitergeleitet...' is displayed, but the redirection does not work.
The redirection to other pages is necessary in our case for several services such as, for example, the route planner, line schedules, etc., as the information applications are divided across multiple servers for performance reasons. The redirection is triggered by an http-refresh, and its timeout is set to 0. Enable automatic redirection in your browser configuration or use the corresponding link on the redirection page.
Which operating systems and browsers are supported?
The following operating systems are supported:
- Microsoft Windows 7
- Microsoft Windows 8.1

- Mozilla Firefox Version 27.0 or higher
- Apple Safari 7 or higher (under MacOS X)
- Google Chrome 33 or higher

What can I do if the navigation/buttons are not working?
If clicking on a menu item/button does not trigger any action, many actions on the VOR site are initiated through Javascripts. You need to enable Javascript to properly display the site.
The route planner does not work with the Opera browser. While the input form for the route planner is displayed, clicking the 'Query' button does not initiate any queries.
Commuter allowance
Where can I get information about the commuter allowance?
You can obtain information about the distance in kilometers through the Commuter Calculator provided by the Federal Ministry of Finance.
Groups
Can seats be reserved for groups on VOR buses?
All regional bus lines within the transportation network operate on a regular service basis, and transportation can only be provided based on the available seats. The purchase of a valid ticket does not guarantee transportation.
Employees of the transportation companies have the right to refuse entry to passengers when the maximum capacity of the respective vehicle is reached, or the safety of additional passengers cannot be ensured.
For passengers, especially larger groups or school classes, transportation on regular bus services can be provided based on available space, but it is not guaranteed. Seat reservations are generally not allowed
